Welcome to Sky Valley Dance Studio! This section of the site is designed to answer many questions regarding the policies of Sky Valley Dance that come up regularly during the year. This information is redundant in the welcome packet you would have received and signed when you registered. It remains important that you, and your dancer, understand these policies.
Feel free to scroll through or use the anchor point links below to get to and from the topic of your choice.
I. Sky Valley Dance Policies: (back)
A. Tuition: (back)
- Tuition is due on the first class of every month. If tuition is not received
by the 10th of the month, a $25 late fee applies.
- The calendar runs from September-June. Tuition is due the 1st class of
each month, even if a scheduled vacation falls within that month.
- Sky Valley Dance does not operate on a pro-rated basis, unless a student
initially signs up for classes mid-month. You will be responsible for the entire month of
tuition, even if your dancer does not attend class.
- If your dancer decides not to attend class any longer, a two week notice
must be given to the studio.
- No tuition refunds will be given.
- Returned check policy: It is Sky Valley Dance’s policy to assess a $25 fee
on any returned check. If an account has two or more returned checks in any one year,
Sky Valley Dance will only accept cash as payment for that account.
- If a student’s tuition is more than 30 days overdue, your dancer will not
be allowed in class until all fees are paid.
B. Class Cancellations: (back)
- In the event of a weather related closure, Sky Valley Dance will follow
the cancellation decisions of Monroe School District.
- In the event of a late-afternoon or evening weather-related emergency,
classes may be cancelled. If this situation arises, each student will be contacted by phone.
- If there is a class cancellation due to an unforeseen emergency situation,
each student will be contacted by phone as soon as possible. While we do not expect this
situation to occur, emergency situations do happen, in which case class cancellation is
necessary.
C. Class Make-Ups: (back)
- If class is cancelled for any reason, a make-up class will be held within
one month of the cancellation. Adequate notice will be given for these make-up classes.
If a student is unable to attend the make-up class, that student may speak with his or her
teacher to determine an appropriate alternative class to attend.
- If your dancer misses a class, he or she may make-up the class in a comparable
class. Please see your instructor to determine when your dancer can make up the
class.
- No tuition reimbursement will be made for missed classes.
D. Recital Information: (back)
- Sky Valley Dance will be holding two recitals this year. Each student is
encouraged, but not required, to participate.
- The first recital will be in mid-December at 2 pm and 6 pm at
Monroe High School. Dates to be announced in September
- There will be a $40 recital fee for this performance,
due no later than October 31, 2007.
- The recital fee includes four tickets and a costume
rental fee.
- No tickets will be sold for this performance. Extra
tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served
basis beginning on December 1, 2007 at 3:30 pm.
- Each dancer will rent a costume for this performance.
Each costume must be returned in good condition at the first
class after the performance. A replacement fee of $50 will be
assessed for any non-returned costumes.
- The second recital will be held at the Everett Civic
Auditorium in Everett on Friday, June . The theme of the
show will be announced in January.
- There is a $60 recital fee per student due no later
than April 15, 2008.
- The recital fee includes four tickets per family.
- Costumes will be purchased separately. Costume
payments are due NO LATER than February 15, 2008,
as they need to be ordered by the end of February to en
sure their timely delivery.
- Please note: There is a possibility that we will hold
a second show the following day. Arrangements are still
being made with the Everett Civic Auditorium. If such
show is held, not all students will participate in both
shows. Further information will be available in
January.
E. Class rules and expectations: (back)
- Students are expected to arrive to class on time, properly
dressed.
- For your dancers safety, any student arriving to class more than
15 minutes late will be asked to observe class. Important warm-up
exercises are done at the beginning at class, and missing these exercises can put your
dancer in danger of serious injury.
- In all upper level classes (Ballet IV and Intermediate and above),
many classes are spent learning important choreography for upcoming performances.
If a dancer misses a class in which choreography is learned, it is expected that the
student arranges for extra help from classmates to learn missed choreography.
- It is the policy of Sky Valley Dance to provide a fun, safe, and respectful
environment for all students, parents, teachers, and staff. It is expected that all students,
parents, staff, teachers, and visitors at Sky Valley Dance respect this policy.
- In an attempt to offer a wide variety of classes to their students,
Sky Valley Dance operates on a very tight schedule. Many teachers
will have several classes in a row. If you need to discuss your dancer’s progress with his/
her teacher, please respect their time and allow them to get to their next class in a timely
manner. If more time is needed, you and your dancer’s teacher may set up a more appropriate
time for a conversation.
- Please note that your teacher will only discuss class progress related
issues. For all other inquiries, please direct them to the owner, Tanya Coram.
